Lynden's Healthy Eats: Where a Local Finds Good Food on Bonaire

Local tipsBy Lynden & the Spare Keys family

Hi, Lynden here. Besides handing out car keys, I'm studying nutrition, and you'll find me at the gym most days. So when guests ask me where to eat, they usually get more than one tip. Here are my favorite places for good, healthy food on the island.

Eating well in the heat

Bonaire is hot, and you'll spend a lot of time in the sun and the water. A few things I always tell visitors:

  • Drink more than you think. Tap water on Bonaire is safe to drink, so fill up a bottle before every trip.
  • Eat light during the day. Save the big meal for the evening, when it's cooler.
  • Go for fresh fish. It's caught locally and it's one of the best things you can eat here.
  • Keep fruit in the car. It beats a bag of chips after a long snorkel.

My favorite spots

  • Breakfast: [name] – [what to order and why Lynden likes it]
  • Lunch in town: [name] – [dish]
  • Smoothies and juices: [name] – [favorite smoothie]
  • Fresh fish: the food trucks at Lac Bay are a great stop after a swim. [Lynden's favorite truck or dish]
  • Dinner: [name] – [dish]
  • Treat day: [name] – [because balance matters too]

Grocery tips for your apartment

Staying somewhere with a kitchen? Here's where I shop: [supermarket name] for [reason], and [local market or shop] for fresh fruit and vegetables. Tip: [Lynden's tip, e.g. best day for fresh produce].

Working out on vacation?

If you want to keep training: [gym name] welcomes visitors [day pass details]. Or go for a run along the boulevard in Kralendijk early in the morning, before it gets hot.

Hungry yet? When I bring your car, ask me for my latest tips. I'm always happy to share.
